'EXPERIENCE-BASED LEARNING'

"It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Your statutes" - Psalm 119:71
.
Yorubas would say, "Iya o je o, o nipe o gbon, tani tisa re? Meaning that you didn't suffer and you say you're wise, who is your teacher?
.
Learning from experience or a state of affliction is usually the best form of learning in life. This kind of learning can never be forgotten in life because it has to do with your personal experience.
.
Do you think David would have been able to write some powerful Psalms had it been he wasn't afflicted? Do you think Paul would have also written those powerful epistles if he hadn't gone through some experiences?
.
What is affliction? It's a state of pain, sorrow, or grief over a person or thing. This is not self-imposed but situational. What's your reaction when you're afflicted in life?
.
Through affliction, if you're patient enough, you'll be able to learn His statutes. When you learn, you grow and you become more experienced in life but when you fail to learn, you'll end up frustrated and remain where you are.
.
God often uses affliction to bring out the best in us this is why His word says all things work together for good for those who love God (Rom. 8:28).
.
Meanwhile, you won't be able to learn if you're impatient or disallow God to show you what He intends. God is always saying something in every situation you find yourself in life especially when they're not encouraging.
.
Is your spouse, siblings, parent, family or friends afflicting you? Listen to the voice of His spirit so that you can learn and become a better person. Understanding His statutes the more comes from being afflicted.
.
Moreover, reacting negatively to pain, pressure or discomfort caused by others is the most dangerous way of approaching such situation because you're not going to act in your best.
.
Ask God to show you what you need to learn in that situation, be patient, it's just a matter of time so that you can grow.
