'HOW FAR IS GOD TO YOU?'

"You are near, O Lord..." (Psalm 119:151)
.
The distance between God and man has been greatly reduced or bridged through Christ (John 14:6). There's no other means or access through which you can get to God other than through Christ. But in spite of this, how close are you to God?
.
You can be going to church for years and you're not close to God. You can be doing all the religious exercise you know, yet, God is far from you. You may know about God or His son, yet they do not know you? Why?
.
The first thing that separates you from God is sin (Is. 59:1). Which of His law are you transgressing? The presence of grace hasn't promote lawlessness (Rom. 6:1). Which of the sins do you commit or easily beset you (Heb. 12:1)?
.
Pride takes a man farther from God. Are you not too proud to humble yourself, pray, seek His face and turn from your wicked ways (2 Chron. 7:14)?
.
To humble yourself is to disregard who and what you have become and put Him first in your life. To pray is to talk to Him rather than lean on your understanding. To seek His face is to desire Him more intimately than anyone or anything and seek His kingdom (Matt. 6:33).
.
To turn from your wicked ways is to stop being rebellious to Him but to obey His word completely (2 Sam.15:22-23). Wickedness isn't just being cruel to your neighbor, it also means being disobedient to God, even to the least of His law.
.
How can I draw near to God? You must understand that God is near because He's a spirit and you have a spirit (John 4:24; Job 32:8). Hence, Jesus, who's the pathway to God is always at the door of your heart (Rev. 3:20). The distance between you and God is a function of what you love and pursue. If you can draw near to Him, He'll draw near to you (James 4:8).
.
You must be humble, have a contrite spirit and tremble at His word (Isaiah 66:2). What are the things that have drawn you away from God? The love of the world? Sin? Or laziness?
.
He loves you, He desire to give you rest from your struggles and bestow abundant life to you. Cry out to Him now for restoration lest those things drag you to hell.
