WANT TO LEAD? SERVE!

"And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant" - Matthew 20:27
.
In the world today and even in the church, there are many people who want to be a leader but do not want to serve. They love the respect and honor that comes with the position but don't want to pay the price that comes with it.
.
Jesus didn't come to be ministered to, He came to minister to those He serve (Matt. 20:28). But unfortunately, many leaders are not serving but feasting on those they're leading.
.
It is a privilege to have an oversight on the flocks of God that's in your charge, it's not by merit. Are you serving them or you're using them to serve you?
.
Paul gave an injunction as to how to serve: take heed to yourself and the flocks that the Holy Spirit has made you overseer, to feed them (Acts 20:28).
.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). Dear leaders, are you seeking to save the lost or you're making the lost doomed forever? To seek and save the lost is the primary definition of leadership. Not everyone in church are saved, you need to prayerfully seek them out.
.
Peter clearly spelled out what it means to serve. Feed them by watching over them, not compulsively but willingly, not for sordid gain but of a ready mind, not as lords but by being an example to them in EVERYTHING (1 Pet. 5:2-3).
.
Of what good is it to lead people who are starving of the word of truth that would make them wise? Crusades and outreach may take away their problems but will it feed their inner man with the bread that would endure to eternal life?
.
Remember, the Chief Shepherd comes to reward everyone on how they serve, especially in the household of faith.
