I'm In A Relationship: What Has God Said?

NB: This article isn't for everyone but only those who care to seek for God's perfect will over their marital choices.
.
Oftentimes in life, God speaks to us with different occasions or events but a lot of people are destroyed for lack of knowledge or their inability to understand how He speaks to them.
.
Because He's a God of variety and cannot be confined into a pattern, He chose different means to talk to His own children. He does that through dreams, godly counsel, vision, trance or a still small voice.
.
If you're His legitimate child, you'll know how He speaks and won't mistaken it with the voice of reason or self will. Why should God say something about my relationship?
.
So that He would prevent you from taking the wrong step or marrying the wrong person. So that He'll reveal what you don't know about the person and their future to you. But, have you taken the time to seek His consent about that relationship?
.
It's not enough to be a church goer, you must have a committed and intimate relationship with God through Jesus. You must allow Him speak to you before you make or accept any proposal so that you don't regret the choice you made.
.
Have you prayerfully seek His face over that relationship? Is He saying something? Do you understand His response?
.
The following are the commonest response that God uses when He speaks. It may not come directly as I highlighted them but it can be traceable to the following.
.
1. No
.
No means no way. Being engaged to an unbeliever is an automatic no from God. And mind you, not all children of God are suitable for you. You must ensure that He guides you.
.
But most times, when He says no, a lot of people would believe they're wise and are able to make the relationship successful. You can't change the wrong partner and make them right, it can never work! Only the Holy Spirit has the power to transform people.
.
Sometimes, God doesn't even need to say NO to that relationship, the circumstances around the relationship has spoken for itself, but many are just blind to see the handwriting on the wall. How can you get God's go-ahead when he abuses you physically, not once or twice? Or he keeps pestering you for sex before marriage and you say you're confused?
.
Love is not blind nor can it override the place of God in any relationship in life.
.
2. Wait
.
Why will He tell me to wait when I'm ready to get married? He told Abraham to wait and that He would give him a child but he, out of impatience followed his wife's advice. The implication of this act became a thing of regret believers face in the world today.
.
When He tells you to wait, don't worry or waste away your life, time and resources on someone He doesn't approve for you but rather take time to build your life emotionally, spiritually, mentally and financially so that your life can be a plus to the one He'll lead you to.
.
A wait from the Lord could be due to your unpreparedness, it could be as means of preventing you from rushing into the relationship that would sabotage your life and destiny or it might not seem to be at His perfect time. But the reason behind the 'wait' is unknown to man and most people don't bother to ask.
.
A wait from God doesn't mean denial, He has a purpose for delaying you a bit before He brings that promise to pass. Isn't it just better to wait than to rush into the relationship that would undo His purpose for your life?
.
3. Yes
.
A yes is said when all things are perfect and beautiful in its time. This is when proposal can be made or accepted and the journey of courtship begins.
.
Yes doesn't mean there's not going to be challenges. A yes simply means His consent to that relationship but you two must be eager to making it work by following His Instructional manual.
.
Dear believer in Christ, has God said anything yet about that relationship or you're acting out what you want for yourself? It's tragic to lean on your own understanding when it comes to choosing whom to marry.
.
You can make mistakes in other endeavors in life and make corrections but when you make mistake in marriage, marrying the wrong partner, you'll live with the mistake forever.
.
Remember, a word from God dispel every fears, worries, doubt or confusion that may occur in your relationship. Pay the price to hear Him speak to you about that relationship now so that you won't pray to Him to mend the relationship.
