'BE SPIRITUALLY FIT'

"Spend your time and energy in the exercise of keeping fit spiritually" - 1 Timothy 4:7b, TLB
.
It is good to be physically fit but it's more rewarding to be spiritually fit. To be spiritually fit is to engage in spiritual exercise. However, what you spend your time and energy on determines how strong and weak you'll become.
.
The first exercise you must spend your time and energy on is to pray. Prayer keeps the soul alert, refreshed and strengthened. Do you spend your time praying or playing?
.
Pray everywhere (1 Tim. 2:8). You may not have time to isolate yourself for hours of prayer but you can pray in the bus, in the toilet or when you're walking.
.
To be spiritually fit is to study and meditate in the word. Meditate in it day and night and observe to do all it says.
.
Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1). The more you meditate in Him, the more He transforms your soul and spirit in becoming like His.
.
Mary sat at Jesus' feet to hear His word but Martha was cumbered with much serving (Luke 10:39-40). What do you bother yourself with?
.
There are no other ways to being spiritually fit if you do not also fast. Fasting subdues the flesh and its influence over your spirit.
.
My brothers and sisters, a man or woman that is not spiritually fit will be vulnerable to the circumstances of life and be victim of life's battles. If Jesus can engage in prayer and fasting to be successful, doing same is all you've got.
.
Jesus only paid for our sins and reconciled us back to God, He didn't do all the spiritual exercise for you. After He left, the disciples still gave themselves continually to prayer and the ministry of the word (Acts 6:4).
.
Being fit spiritually is a continuous process and not a one-time activity. It's good to exercise your body but spiritual exercise is more profitable to your spirit and soul in this world and in the world to come.
.
...Read your bible pray everyday, if you want to grow.
