HOW DO YOU TREAT YOUR BIBLE?

Sad to say this, it's in Christianity that people usually handle their bibles anyhow. Some use theirs only on Sundays after accumulating a 6-day dust over the week; some put theirs inside the newspaper for shame of being seen carrying it publicly; some have missing chapters or pages; some have their bibles with loggerheads.
.
Many people have their bibles as neat as when they bought it because it appears to them as a monumental object. Others put candy stickers or chewing gum tattoos on their bible because of lack of understanding. For lack of study, many have the pages of their bible plain without a mark of the verse(s) that stimulate their spirit.
.
Do you know that the bible is the most persecuted book in the world's history? Most kings and world rulers, who are devil's incarnate tried to prevent the circulation of God's Word. Can it be possible to stop the flow of air in the atmosphere? Never!
.
So many people have being paid to burn and destroy large prints of the bible but they ended up as failures. The devil tries as much as possible to prevent the light of God from shining into the world through the bible.
.
In history, while the bible was prevented from use in public, the world was in total darkness which is known as the Dark Age. No inventions, innovations or discoveries were made. Ignorance increased and cruelty sprang up until when the first bible, Latin Vulgate Bible was translated by Jerome in 397-404 A.D. in a cave at Bethlehem.
.
Charles V also condemned Martin Luther for trying to spread his doctrine of salvation by works which he acquired from the bible through his translation project. Sorry for taking you a bit into history. Just to show you the struggles and battles the bible had suffered before it gained its total freedom to be in your hand and readily available.
.
The bible is one book that contains 66 other books. Can you imagine that? It has two great Testaments of God's dealing with mankind. Most books - business recipes, philosophical teachings, motivational literatures or world constitutions have their roots in the bible before the era of constitution amendments.
.
It's a book that contains vivid details of the Creation, The Fall of Mankind, Salvation through Jesus Christ and the End of the Human Race. It's not a mere historical book but a stimulant to live a godly life from great patriarch of faith where you can learn from their fall or success.
.
It's a book where you can pick good mentors from. A book where its word can be used to overcome temptations, increase faith, offer prayers according to God's will and apply healing to medical deplorable situations.
.
In case you don't know: it's a book written by the inspiration of God which is profitable for doctrine, correction, reproof and instruction to righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16). You don't need to learn other language before you understand its content because its readily available in all world languages.
.
There are so much to be said about the bible that is indescribable. The more you dig deep into its treasures, the better you realize the precious pearls it provides.
.
It is a shame that for technological improvements, the devil has reduce the effect and potency of God's word in people's lives. Most Christians prefer to use the bibles on their mobile phones, galaxy tabs, iPads or Blackberry as opposed to the hard copy printed bible.
.
Don't get me wrong, soft copy bibles are good for as long as they don't take the place of your hard copy. They are good for quick search of a verse, phrase or keywords while you're still a beginner in its study. They offer the flexibility of having many translations readily available at your fingertip.
.
But technology should not take the place of God in your life. How can you be reading a bible on your phone, say BB for instance and you get a ping, call or sms and would not be distracted or the spirit flow terminated?
.
Many people have sexual explicit contents on the phones they also keep their bibles on. How does it work? The spirit of God cannot be in an unholy environment. That's just a software. The bible is beyond that. Remember, His words are spirit and carries life (John 6:63).
.
The life of God that flows into you as you flip through the pages of your bible while engrossed in a meditative study cannot be underestimated or compared to that on the phone. It's not a thing of mentality or mindset. Try it and see! Nothing can disturb you while using the hard copy bible: no calls, no texting, no pings, no sms alerts, no flashing or browsing distractions.
.
Joel Osteen usually says this and I so much love it,
"This is my bible, I am what it says I am; I have what it says I have, I can do what it says I can do. Today, I will be taught the word of God. I boldly confess, my mind is alert, my heart is receptive, I will never be the same, in Jesus name". Does that also applies to you?
.
Never would your mind be alert and your heart receptive when using a softcopy bible. Please do not allow the wave of technology sweep off the potency of God's word in your life.
.
Note, the hardcopy bible you're carrying is a representation of Jesus in print because Jesus is the Word of God and He guides us through His words to eternity.
.
Rev. H. G Jack, in his hymn writes, "Wonderful bible! Book of God; guide and counsel to mortals giv'n; lamp to the path by the ransomed trod, lighting the way from earth to heav'n".
.
Don't be ashamed to let people see that you have it. Live a life that conform to its content. Be engrossed in its meditative study so that you'll have good success, prosper and your profiting would appear to all.
.
Feed your spirit man with its word and not with worldly songs or lyrics which cannot resist the temptation of the devil or build up your faith. Be saturated with the word of God so that you will live every waking moments according to His laws.
.
Treasure it more than the dearest person in your life. Oops! Ain't that extreme? Know what God wants per time, season and situation and ensure to live all its teachings without preferring one testament to the other.
.
Be blessed as your treasure the bible physically and in your hearts. Be favoured as you take ample time to study it for the rest of this week.
