'DUTY OF A SOLDIER' (Shun Worldly Affairs -2)

"No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier" - 2 Timothy 2:4
.
One thing that many of us don't know is that as a Christian, we are not called to end our race here on earth but to lay hold on eternal life. We are just passers-by. If you don't dissociate yourself from the affairs of this world, you can't inherit God's kingdom.
.
If you have conquered the lust of the flesh, you must ensure that you're not a slave to the lust of the eye. The affairs of this life has been grouped into three: lust of the flesh, lust of the eye and the pride of life (1 John 2:15-17).
.
What is the lust of the eye? Anything that catches your fancy or easily attract you. Lust of the eye will lead a person to extramarital affairs when he/she has a husband/wife at home. It's also the cause of greed and covetousness.
.
Lust of the eye was the reason why the woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasant to the eyes (Gen. 3:6). Who made her see it in a special way?
.
The devil came to Jesus, took Him up into an exceeding high mountain, he showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them (Matt. 4:8-9), it'll be Jesus' own if He bows to the devil.
.
What is the devil showing you that's making you greedy or covetous? Haven't you bowed to the devil unconsciously and you're now amassing the world's good which is susceptible to moth, rust and theft?
.
You can't please Jesus that drafted you to be a soldier for Him if you're still a slave to the lust of the eye. Leave others that are greedy or covetous, are there no traits of these in your life?
.
Until you and I tell Satan and the world to get behind us, we can't follow Jesus the way we ought to. Don't deceive yourself, God knows those who are serving Him in Spirit and in truth. The devil also knows those who are his.
.
You can't be a friend of this world and equally be a friend of God (James 4:4). Why not let's cry out to God to deliver us from the lust of the eye before it delivers us to the torment in hell?
