'HOLD FAST'

"Hold fast the form of sound words, which you have heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus" - 2 Timothy 1:13
.
For you to hold fast the form of sound words, you must first be able to discern between sound and unsound words. Unsound words makes the faith of men to rest in the wisdom of this world, it also entice them but sound words makes your faith rest in the power of God.
.
To hold fast means to hold firmly - to grasp tightly. Since words are not tangible, they need to be contained in the heart.
.
For sound doctrines to be stored in your heart, you must guard your heart with all diligence (Prov. 4:23) against the following:
.
Satanic influence that prevents people from believing the word and to be saved. Satan influenced Eve and made her disobey God's warning.
.
Endeavor to allow the word take root in your heart. Words that are not well rooted won't stand the time of temptation (Luke 8:13). If words will be rooted in your heart, you must continually nurture it.
.
Guard your heart against the cares, riches and pleasures of life (Luke 8:14). You can't keep sound words in your heart if you allow the cares of life (what to wear, eat or drink) to erode its influence. If the pursuit of riches (money, properties, material things) envelopes your heart, you cannot hold firmly sound words. The pleasures of life (ease, comfort, vanities) will prevent you from keep sound words in your heart.
.
However, if you will hold fast the form of sound words, your heart must receive the word with meekness (James 1:21). Hear it, let the Spirit breathe upon the word in your heart. Keep it, guard it against the aforementioned points and let it bring forth fruit with patience (Luke 8:15).
.
It is when you hold fast the form of sound words that you can be the doer of the word.
