'FLEE YOUTHFUL LUST'

"Flee also youthful lust, but follow righteousness, faith, charity and peace with them that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart" - 2 Timothy 2:22
.
Youthful lust is a craving or passion pertaining to youths which a large fraction of them has made their pursuit. Old people do not lust after youthful lust because they do not have the strength or zeal for it.
.
What are these youthful lust? Sex. Money. Ungodly relationship. Fashion and cosmetic. Power. Fame. Materialism. Alcoholism. And so on.
.
However, to flee means to run away.
.
Eve lusted after the forbidden fruit because it was good for food, it was pleasant to the eyes and one desired to make one wise (Gen. 3:6). These were the origin of youthful lust.
.
Potiphar's wife saw that adultery was good for her and that Joseph was the perfect man for the job but thank God Joseph fled (Gen. 39).
.
The world we live in has made sexual perversion, illegal means of making money, ungodly relationship (boyfriend and girlfriend), abuse of fashion and cosmetics, hunger for power and fame, greed for material things, alcoholism and other youthful vices good for pursuit, pleasant and a thing to make one enjoy life.
.
Gehazi embraced the lust for material things, he missed the opportunity of becoming a great prophet and he acquired generational leprosy for his unborn children (2 Kings 5:20-27).
.
Anyone who embrace youthful lust will waste away his or her youthful life and the old age will be spent in regret.
.
The world will offer you its lust. You will be lured into youthful lust but only those who are wise would flee.
.
Run away from youthful lust. You cannot serve God while pursuing youthful passion. The world we live in houses the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life (1 John 2:15-17). You can't serve God and the world simultaneously.
.
To overcome youthful lust, let your heart (affection) be directed to the pursuit of God and His kingdom (Matt. 6:33) and seek those things that are above where Christ sits at the right hand of God.
