'OBEY RULES'

"An athlete who runs in a race cannot win the prize unless he obeys the rules" - 2 Timothy 2:5 (GNT)
.
Becoming a child of God or a Christian is not a license to do as you please, there are rules to follow or obey, otherwise you will be unable to win the approval of the One that has chosen you or called you into His family.
.
If an athlete who runs in a race doesn't obey the rules, he can never win the prize even if he runs successfully. This is why the grace that enabled a man to become God's child teaches him to deny ungodliness and worldly lust and to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world (Titus 2:11-12).
.
Do you know the rules you must obey in order to win the Christian race? You must search the scripture to find them. You cannot please God by living the kind of life you want, this is why He said He will tell them to depart from Him because they are workers of iniquity (lawlessness) - Matthew 7:21-23.
.
Among the rules to obey in running this Christian race is to lay aside every weight and the sin that easily beset and to run the race with endurance (Heb. 12:1). More so, you do not run the race by looking at the crowd or those in front of you, Jesus must be the One you look up to (Heb. 12:2).
.
How have you been running this Christian race: lawfully or unlawfully?
.
You can do much for God and be disqualified and you can be qualified for doing little. The most important thing is to obey the rules while running the race.
.
To run the race lawfully, always check yourself in the light of God's word and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as you're running.
.
Remember, it is not how far you have ran that matters, it is how well you follow the rules while running.
