A Journey to Delta State: Lesson 3 (Jesus Made Us One)

The word of God is true having been tried in a furnace of fire seven times. I remembered Jesus' word in John 17 when He prayed to the Father to make His disciples one and those who would join them.
.
Before the bus broke down shortly after we took off, as a usual practice when people travel long distance in Nigeria, the man who sat close to me engaged the passengers in a session of prayers for journey mercies.
.
The responses were profound and the bus environment was filled with love as everyone poured out their heart to God in prayers.
.
Do you know that it is only Jesus that makes people one?
.
Everything separates us in the world but only Jesus Christ binds us as one big happy family regardless of our race, tribe, gender and status.
.
Religion has separated the world. Denominations has divided the body of Christ. Tribe and racism is separating everyone even in the most civilized nations of the world. Gender differences between husband and wife and the cravings for equality has divided homes.
.
But do you know the solution to this?
.
"Neither is there any Jew or Greek, neither is there circumcision or uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all"- (Colossians 3:11).
.
Do you have Christ in you?
.
If the Lord Jesus Christ is not in you, you'll be separated by those things that separate men. But when He's in you, you are not bias in treating other people who doesn't share the same background or status with you.
.
However, the solution to the calamity of the world is not a propaganda for world peace but that everyone should ensure that Christ is in them. When Christ is in your life, old things (religion, racism, denominational difference) are passed away. This will then enable you to treat and love everyone with the God kind of love.
.
When Christ is in you, you can marry from any tribe, provided He's the one leading you there. Are you one with everyone in the body of Christ regardless of their differences? Do you love your neighbor as yourself?
.
If you still resent other believers in the body of Christ, it truly shows that Christ is not in you. There can be doctrinal differences, general overseers or church members may be different but if Christ is in you, you'll see them as your brothers and sisters in the Lord.
.
In soccer, there are several clubs; in politics there are different parties but in Christ, we are one body. If the Christ you claim to have makes you segregate yourself from other believers, then watch if it's truly Jesus Christ.
.
There is no tribe, racism or denomination in Christ because He has made us one.
